This fund is used specifically for emergencies and disasters, such as war, famine and flood. Because the Mothers' Union often has workers already in the affected areas, emergency supplies can be purchased locally and so reach those who are suffering very quickly.

Where there is no local worker, funds are channelled through the local Anglican church.

The money for the Relief fund is not collected in boxes but through branch and diocesan special efforts and collections.
